Workplace Accidents

In a recent press release, the Injuries Board said that it awarded €22m compensation for 807 workplace claims last year. The average award given was €27,286 and 82% of awards were under €38,000 the Board reported. The Board gave two awards over €300,000, one for a crush injury and another involving a person trapped in a machine.

Men were twice as likely as women to have a workplace accident, accounting for seven in ten awards. Thursday was the most common day for accidents in the workplace and a third of the awards were for trips, slips and falls.
